Brechin attended Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. She also earned her Physician MBA through the IU Kelley School of Business.

WonderLab Executive Director Karen Jepson-Innes said, “Health is part of our name and we are excited and thankful to have Brechin on our team. She is an excellent representative of our local health community.” She noted that Brechin, as a pediatrician, brings a valuable focus on youth and children’s health needs.

Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, Brechin grew up with WonderLab. She would “frequently visit the museum as a child and still enjoys coming today with [her] two kids.” Brechin has “always had an interest in science and mathematics, which eventually led to her career in health.” She believes that STEM is a great field of opportunities today, offering multiple paths for children to follow.

Brechin was excited to join the Board when offered the opportunity. She said, “With my personal and professional experiences, I see the value in helping to promote growth and development for the youth and community.” With her background in health, she believes she can provide valuable knowledge and insight into the health challenges that youth and their families may face. Through the development of WonderLab programs, she hopes to impart knowledge about children’s health needs.

As a board member, Brechin wants to “help sustain WonderLab and help it grow to reach the community more.” She emphasized, “Community is everything. It is important to have others to fulfill our lives and to be exposed to diversity, cultures, and people to expand the horizons of our youth.”
