How to Apply

Welcome! We’re so glad you are interested in volunteering. Volunteers are an essential part of the WonderLab visitor experience.

New volunteers are required to submit the appropriate form in order to volunteer. Training registration information will be sent after your application is received.

Individuals who are 18 or older should use the Adult Application.

Teens who wish to become museum volunteers must be at least entering grade 7 in the fall of the next school year.

Teens who are applying for a WonderCamp summer internship must be entering grade 9 in the fall of the next school year. Special training sessions for WonderCamp internships are listed on the application form.

Volunteer Opportunities

Most WonderLab volunteers begin their experience on the museum floor, helping visitors feel comfortable and encouraging them to explore the hands-on exhibits and experiences. This job is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public, appreciate children, and can work independently. A science background is not needed. Other opportunities are available to selected individuals who have completed basic training and have special skills and/or have shown special aptitude working with the public in the museum.

Volunteers help set up the party room, prepare gift bags, greet guests, help with the science activity and clean up after the party. Prior experience working with visitors in the museum and special training are required.

Volunteers assist admissions and gift store staff in welcoming visitors, providing information and stocking the gift store shelves. Minimum age: 18. Special training is required.

Volunteers provide hands-on activities and information to visitors off-site. This type of volunteering is especially rewarding because it helps bring science to those who do not have the means of getting to WonderLab. Prior experience working in the museum with visitors and personal responsibility for transportation are required.

Volunteers help with fund-raising events. Tasks might include assisting with planning events, collecting auction items, mailings, set up and tear down, photography and more.

Share a love of learning and science with visitors by leading relatively advanced programs. Volunteers with science expertise help develop special programs for all ages.
