About the Boozy Book Fair at WonderLab, Bloomington

Too many books, no such thing! WonderLab’s Boozy Book Fair with Morgenstern Books is sure to be packed with book lovers trying to find something new. Want to start a book club?  Trying to find your next favorite read? Support a great local business? You can do it all at the Boozy Book Fair.

Try coloring with alcohol. Explore the world of music and play a new instrument. Let your imagination run wild and create your own travel pamphlet. Take a stab at the Dancing Dice and see what you come up with. Use a loom and weave the night away.  All that and more at WonderLab’s Boozy Book Fair.

What’s a Boozy Book Fair without some booze? Upland Brewery  has got you covered at their cash bar! Grab your preferred beverage beer, Hopwater, or a signature cocktail made just for the event. Booze not your thing, a variety of sodas will be waiting for you. If you get snacky, pick up something from our table of light refreshments, provided by WonderLab.

Meet Jenn Cristy at the Boozy Book Fair

Singer-songwriter Jenn Cristy will be on-site with a variety of instruments, ready to share her passion for music. Chat with Jenn and explore fun, creative ways to bring music into your life. She’ll also be offering an exclusive sneak peek of songs from her upcoming album, Right Where I Should Be—her first studio release in 10 years, dropping October 10!

Sensory Scene Writing Workshop with Bob Bledsoe

Bob Bledsoe, Senior Lecturer, English and Director, IU Writers’ Conference, will lead this 30–40-minute creative writing session. Participants will spark new story ideas through a playful, low-pressure writing exercise inspired by Lynda Barry. Starting with a simple image (like neighbors or cars), you’ll brainstorm, build a vivid scene using sensory questions, and then dive into a timed free write that begins with the phrase “I am…” The focus is on discovery, flow, and imagination—not perfection. No experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to write.

Bring a valid ID proving you’re 21 or older. Bring a bag for all those books you’re taking home, some spending money, and that childlike curiosity. Whether it’s a book, a new connection, or something you learned at the museum, you won’t leave empty handed. For trinket lovers, the WonderLab gift store will be open during the event.
