In this edition of Animal Hour we are stepping back in time as we discuss the oldest evidence of life: fossils. We will learn what a chemical element is as we learn how scientists discover how old fossils are. Materials are not necessary but if you would like to participate in the activity, you will want to bring with you either small pretzel rods or toothpicks and a relatively soft multicolored food such as gummy bears, colorful marshmallows or gumdrops. This program supports Indiana Academic State standards for life sciences for grades 1-5.
