Friday, June 28

This month in Dive Deeper we will explore the motion of the ocean by learning about the physics that drive the complexities of the most vast environment on Earth. Participate in experiments where you can be your own wave table to see what would happen to a shoreline with no coral or use ice and dye to explore how currents work.

Dive Deeper is a monthly science program suitable for people of all ages. This program is an opportunity to talk with our animal exhibits staff directly to learn about WonderLab’s animal ambassadors and what it takes to care for animals from around the world. See a fully functioning ecosystem in action while you explore WonderLab’s 300 gallon coral reef aquarium with our care staff to guide you along the way.

The whole ocean is connected, from the sunny shallows to the deepest trenches. Through interactive demonstrations learn with us about how what we do here on land can affect the ocean and cooperatively problem solve to come up with solutions to the environmental issues the ocean faces every day.

Activities may include:

  • Observing staff feeding the fish, corals or sea stars
  • A guided Tour of Wonder Under the Waves
  • Watch or participate in demonstrations and experiments
  • Get hands on by holding coral or sea star skeletons, sponges, or even algae

Program details are subject to change as the needs of the animal ambassadors warrant.
