WonderLab’s Wild Animal Spring Break is a showcase of animals and their adaptations. Interact with wildlife rehabilitation experts from WildCare Inc. as you observe an ambassador animal and learn about their story. Topics during the presentation include wildlife facts, rehabilitation work, and how citizens can get involved in protecting local wild animals. Attendees may be able to get up close to the ambassador animal, depending on the ambassador’s temperament that day. After WildCare Inc.’s show, take part in a hands-on activity run by WonderLab educators that relates to the ambassador you have learned about. Expect to learn about how animals adapt to their environment over time, react to change in season, and are affected by climate change.

About WildCare, Inc.: WildCare Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Bloomington, Indiana focused on providing professional care to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife so that they may be returned to the wild. Care and rehabilitation services are provided to all native Indiana wildlife species, with the exception of deer. Wildcare also strives to help protect the next generation of wildlife through our education and community outreach programs.
Wildcare provides treatment for 1,500 – 2,000 animals per year and has taken in thousands of animals since incorporation in 2001.Wildcare also does approximately 75 educational outreach programs reaching up to 3,000 people each year WildCare Inc. has very limited staff, and mostly relies on volunteers who generously donate their time to help feed, clean, and ensure the best quality of care for our wild patients.

Disclaimer: The Wild Animal Adaptations programs are 30 minutes long and focused on a single animal ambassador. The Animal Ambassador in your session could be: American Barn Owl, American Kestrel, African Spurred Tortoise, Bat, Box Turtles, Corn Snake, Fox, Harris’s Hawk, North American Crow, Opossum, Peregrine Falcon, Woma Python Wood Duck. Ambassadors are subject to change, day of, depending on the temperament of the animal. This program is designed for families with children. Specific age recommendations are listed for each event. The last session of each day is most appropriate for ages 8 and up.
