The new CDC mask guidelines were released to the public in mid-May (Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html). Shortly after came the announcement from the  Monroe County Health Department that the mask requirement for fully vaccinated people and gathering order expires on Monday, May 17. 2021.

Lifting of the mask mandate is encouraging news and reflects the strong protection provided by COVID-19  vaccines.  However, the majority of visitors to WonderLab are under the age of 12, and thus are not yet eligible for vaccination.  To protect our youngest visitors, along with older children and adults who remain unvaccinated and/or immunocompromised, WonderLab is maintaining its current mask mandate for all visitors, regardless of age or vaccination status. The requirement for vaccinated adults to remain masked reflects our strong belief that caregivers serve as important, positive role models for children.  This policy also eliminates the need for WonderLab staff to distinguish vaccinated from unvaccinated visitors.

WonderLab’s mask policy can be found on the WonderLab website: https://www.wonderlab.org/covid-reopening/#masks

WonderLab is proud to announce that as of May 31, all WonderLab staff as well as WonderCamp teachers and staff will be fully vaccinated. This milestone is important for the health and safety of our staff as well as our entire community. In addition, we are strongly encouraging WonderCamp high school volunteers to get vaccinated prior to Camp.  All staff will continue to wear a mask while on WonderLab property and at offsite events including  outreach and WonderCamp.

WonderLab is an award-winning science museum located at 308 W. Fourth St. on the B-Line Trail in Bloomington, Indiana. General admission is $10, and children younger than one year are free. Due to Covid-19 the museum is open to the public during limited times. For the most up-to-date information go to wonderlab.org.
